MindCrack Public Server
The MindCrack Public Server (server address: mindcrack.mcprohosting.com) is a defunct public Minecraft server open to anyone who purchased the game. It was opened on 15th April 2012 and was planned to be capped at 1,000 players[1], but due to lag the cap was lowered to 400.[2] The cap was then increased to 500. The server ran on Bukkit and changes were made to prevent griefing, including disabled TNT, fire spreading, and pvp except in designated pvp areas. PauseUnpause livestreamed the event on Twitch.tv but the video is no longer archived. The server was hosted by mcprohosting.com and the specifications were 8 SSDs, 5.5Ghz, with 32 gigs of ram, and 10GBps port.[3] The server included a market that runs on the IConomy plugin, King of the Ladder, a pvp arena, and plots for building contests. During the first day, more than 15,000 players joined the server. Since the server went live, over 30,000 players had joined.[4]
On the 27 April 2012, due to the failures of the grief-protection mod[5] and the host being unreliable and not fulfilling their promises, Guude had the server shut down.[6] Guude revisited the idea of a public server and opened one on 20 December 2013 called PlayMindcrack.
