ABBA Rules

ABBA Rules is a style of caving introduced by VintageBeef where two or more members go caving for a set period of time, collecting ores with silk touch. Each ore is assigned a certain number of points. At the end the participants tally their points and the winner takes all the loot gathered by all parties. This competitive style of caving was inspired by a song called "The Winner Takes It All" by the Swedish band ABBA, hence the name.[1]

PvP is not allowed and participants typically make use of potions or Ender Pearls if they so choose.

Bedrock drag racing[edit]

A variant of ABBA caving was invented by generikb and AnderZEL during Season 5, where a world border was introduced:[2] The contestants would dig straight down to level 6 in the corner of the map, and then start digging towards one of the other corners of the map. It is only allowed to dig straight forward; the only exceptions are collecting veins of ore and moving temporarily upwards or downwards when dodging lava lakes. When hitting a cave, exploring it is allowed.

The notable difference to ABBA caving is that an extra 20 points are awarded to the winner who reached the other end of the map first. This adds a level of strategy where skipping low-scoring ores or skipping caves may be beneficial because of the extra points.
