thejims, also known by his personal name Joshua,[2] is a former member of the Mindcrack Server. thejims was one of the first to join Mindcrack, in December 2010, having been friends with Guude from World of Warcraft.[3] On 3 April 2015, it was announced that thejims would be parting ways with Mindcrack.[4]

Biography[edit]

thejims currently resides in Utah, United States. He was married on 14 February 2014.[5] The handle "thejims" is a reference to Star Trek character James T. Kirk.[6] His World of Warcraft handle "champloo" is derived from the anime Samurai Champloo.[6]

thejims made his first public appearance at BlizzCon 2013.[7] PauseUnpause is the only Mindcracker to have met thejims in real life.[8]

Let's Play[edit]

thejims uploaded videos from the MindCrack server infrequently during Season 2 and 3. He uploaded no videos during Season 4 but remained on the whitelist because "an active Let's Play was not necessary back when thejims was whitelisted on the server."[9]

In April 2014, thejims was removed from the subreddit sidebar and also mindcracklp.com. Guude says he wants new people that find Mindcrack to have a clear view of who is an active content creator. He was not removed from the server's whitelist.[10]

In May 2014, thejims began doing Minecraft livestreams with his "new home [and] new internet."[11] He livestreamed regularly from the CrackPack server, and uploaded the archives to YouTube.[12] thejims reached 30,000 YouTube subscribers on 6 August 2014, celebrated by returning to the vanilla server.[13] thejims was returned to the subreddit sidebar on 7 August 2014, following his continued CrackPack activity.[14]

Mindcrack[edit]

Season 2: thejims built a castle close to Shreeyam's suspension bridge[15][16] and later a second base which served as a simple mob trap.[17]

Season 3: thejims' plot in the spawn village was originally a wooden house[18] but later he built a giant slime made of ice blocks with a quarry underneath that reached to bedrock.[19] His main builds on the server were his themed towers and mycelium island, both behind the Arena.[19][20][21]

Season 4: thejims did not release any videos from the Season 4 map. He had a village close to jsano19's hospital with a quarry, blacksmith, storage facility and various farms.[22][23]

Minecraft skin[edit]

thejims' skin is Alucard from the anime Hellsing. Since August 2014, thejims has used a skin made by Nilba that utilizes the new skin customization added in Minecraft 1.8.[24]

Previous/Alternate skins[edit]

thejims' earliest known skin[25][26] was Duke Nukem from the Duke Nukem game series.[27] His next known skin was a slime in a suit.[28] During July and August 2011, he is seen wearing a red and black skin.[29] Thejims began wearing his Alucard skin at the start of Season 3 in September 2011.[30]
